Snack
We will have a short snack break each day. Since this time is used to refuel our bodies so learning can continue, it's important that all snacks are healthy. Please send oranges and hard-boiled eggs already peeled for quick and easy consumption since this time is brief.
The following is a list of snacks that will be permitted in our classroom:
~FRUIT - Fresh, canned, frozen or dried fruit as well as applesauce is fabulous. Since snack time is brief, please send oranges already peeled or sliced for quick & easy consumption.
~VEGETABLES - Raw or cooked, with a dip or just plain will be delicious.
~POTATOES - I often eat baked potatoes like an apple. I'll usually put about 8 small potatoes in my microwave for 6 to 7 minutes and they're perfectly cooked! Be sure to poke holes in each potato before cooking.
~OLIVES
~PICKLES
~RICE
~BREAD - Whole grain will be the most nourishing.
~YOGURT - There are so many different types of yogurt to choose from. Please do your best to choose a healthier yogurt that's not loaded with sugar.
~CHEESE - Sticks, cubes or slices, and don't forget about cottage cheese!
~EGGS - Hard boiled eggs make great snacks. Please be sure to send them already with the shell removed.
~LUNCH MEAT
~BEEF STICKS
You may have noticed that all items listed above are crumb and essentially mess free. Although there are other foods that many would consider healthy, we are limiting our snack items to the above list. This ensures that there will not be any nut products or foods that are manufactured in a facility that may use nuts to keep all children safe. This will also keep our critter count to a minimum since we won't have crumbs to entice the ant population to take residence in our classroom. Thank you for helping your child develop healthy snack habits and keep our classroom clean!
